Demonstrators seeking an inquiry into Bihar’s 70th BPSC examination and an 85% state-candidate recruitment policy clashed with police after approaching barricades.
Bhim Army activists scuffled with police in Patna on Saturday, August 29, during a march over alleged irregularities in examinations administered by the Bihar Public Service Commission.
The demonstrators assembled at Gandhi Maidan and advanced through the city with several demands. They sought a judicial inquiry into the 70th BPSC examination and adoption of a policy reserving 85% of Bihar government recruitment opportunities for candidates from the state.
According to SP City (Central) Mamta Kalyani, protesters attempted to break through barricades near JP Golumber. Police had installed security barriers and deployed personnel around the protest route.
Kalyani said the group also disrupted traffic near Gandhi Maidan and did not clear the roadway despite repeated police requests. Officers then dispersed the activists and restored normal vehicle movement.
Video from the scene showed members of the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshiram) and Bhim Army participating in the demonstration while police maintained security. Officials did not report a judicial decision on the protesters’ demands or provide details of arrests or injuries in the immediate account.
